Bad jokes. DIY disasters. The eternal struggle of finding a matching sock. This is what it means to be a dad. And much more.
Being a dad is awesome, and it can be really, really difficult. That's why Athens Parent Wellbeing has a dad support network.
Together, we'll navigate the wild world of fatherhood. Whether you are a seasoned dad with grown children, currently sleep-deprived due to 2 AM diaper changes and bottle feedings, or hoping to be a dad one day, this is a group for you.
Dads Group meets at various locations each month, previous meet-ups have happened at ReBlossom, and:
Facilitators: Chaz Ripley
Chaz has a background in education and non-profit work. He is the dad of a beautiful 3-year-old girl and baby boy and a husband of 11 years. He recently wrapped up a degree in Mental Health Counseling after a career in education. He is now a mental health therapist with Stonegate Counseling in Watkinsville.
Facilitator: Chris Weatherly
Hello everyone! My name is Chris Weatherly and I’m an LCSW with experience providing therapeutic support for adults in both group and individual settings in a variety of situations and contexts. I also have a PhD and work as an Assistant Professor at UGA’s School of Social Work. I’m now very interested in working with fathers, both new and old. If you are uncomfortable by the idea of therapy or talking about mental health, I get it! It can feel weird! My goals are to offer a space and clinical relationship where folks can explore themselves, find relief, and deepen their satisfaction with their lives and families.
