GA Department of Education Declaration of Intent Form
Need to complete by September 1st. They're offering to email you this year but smart to save into your documents before closing out the completed form. One for each family.
HSLDA
Homeschooling under the homeschool statute
- Ensure that the person or people homeschooling your child have the required qualifications.
- Submit an annual declaration of intent.
- Provide the required number of days of instruction.
- Teach the required subjects: reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science.
- Write annual progress reports.
- Test your child at least every three years after he or she completes 3rd grade.
According to the laws in Georgia, parents are responsible for homeschooling their children but can pay for a tutor. HSLDA is an organization that is heavily intertwined with the religious right. Recommend that before joining from them that you look into their leaders, lobbying efforts, and associations. But has good law info for quick look.
