Becca began work as a trained labor doula (CAPPA) in 2015 and together with her business partner, Kate DeWolf, opened AthensBorn in 2016. They've been working with pregnant and postpartum families ever since. She also provides postpartum doula care, bereavement support, placenta encapsulation, and teaches childbirth education classes.
Birth is one of the most impactful and vulnerable things a family will ever do, and one of her goals as a doula is to provide compassionate, non-judgmental support throughout the process. I believe that each family we work with canenjoytheir birth and look back on it as an empowering experience.
Her pre-birth-work career as a campus minister right here in Athens taught Becca how to counsel and hold space for people through major life transitions. Raising her own 2 children has helped her continue learning how to do that with patience and without judgment. She also carries with her personal experience of coming out later in life, and all the growth experienced through divorce, learning how to be a single parent, and becoming a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Everything in Becca's life has brought her to this place, and she's thrilled to support others throughout their own life transitions. She holds a BA in Psychology from Georgia State University.
